Yooka-Replayee is a remaster of the 2017 platformer Yooka-Layee which has garnered a following due to its retro-style collect-a-thon platformer mechanics. The remaster is due to be released this year and a new trailer has been released by developer Playtonic. The new video shows a deeper look at its vibrant environments and charming characters.
As well as a new trailer to whet the appetites of retro fans, Playtonic has confirmed that Yooka-Replayee will be co-published with PM Studios and will be available for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox and Nintendo platforms. Although a Swith 2 port has not been explicitly confirmed, the fact that Nintendo ‘platforms’ were mentioned gives some insight that this may come to the much-anticipated follow-up to Nintendo’s successful hybrid console.
“Yooka-Laylee was always our love letter to the golden age of platformers, and Yooka-Replaylee is a love letter to that love letter. PM Studios innately understands this,” said Gavin Price, Playtonic CEO. “They’re a perfect partner for Playtonic Friends as we enter this next stage of our journey with the game.”
“As a fan of collect-a-thons like Yooka-Laylee and Banjo-Kazooie before that, it’s a delight to partner with Playtonic in bringing Yooka-Replayee to platformer fans around the globe,” said Michael Yum, PM Studios CEO. “With our powers combined, Yooka and Laylee will be bigger than ever.”
