Dead Connection is the latest arcade title to be given a new lease of life by Hamster Corporation’s Arcade Archives line. Unlike last week’s somewhat obscure and unusual Arcade Archives title, which was Othello, an arcade conversion of a 19th-century board game, Dead Connection finds us in slightly more familiar arcade territory, being what Hamster describe as “an action shooting game.” Hamster Corporation further describe Dead Connection as follows: “As part of a special team of law enforcement officers tasked with eradicating the evil that has infested big city, you must gather the evidence needed to take down the Nerozzia crime family. Armed with only a badge and a gun, can you lift the veil of darkness that lays across the city?”
Dead Connection isn’t quite your usual shoot ’em up, though, offering gameplay in a style that’s not dissimilar to a shooting gallery type game, and the game has an appealing film noir style. Originally released into arcades by Taito in 1992, Dead Connection was recently revived by its inclusion of the Taito Milestones compilation for Nintendo Switch, and from tomorrow (February 27th 2025), Dead Connection will be available to buy as an individual title in the Arcade Archives line for both Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.
