Save Me Cows! Is a new Game Boy puzzler inspired by Sonic Team’s classic ChuChu Rocket. The game is in development but does require funding to get the project to the finish line. A new Kickstarter still has over a week to go and has achieved about a third of the total as we went to press.
The game is described by solo dev Bionary Square as “an action puzzle game for the Game Boy and compatible systems developed by myself and written in assembly. It’s a nod to ChuChu Rocket! by Sega. It features 100 levels of cow-saving mayhem. You star as a Cowpoke working for Edgar. A world-renowned rancher and four-time alien abductee. Tasked with using your bovine sensibilities to save his prized cattle.”
The main development of the game has been finished, with most of the outstanding work needed in the audio and testing departments. The aim is to have everything running at a smooth 60fps and push the hardware to its limit. So far, original Game Boy models and several after-market models have been tested and Save Me Cows! Is looking to release around May 2025 in both physical and digital versions.
