We’ve been keeping tabs on the upcoming Mega Drive shooter ZPF. The game raised a staggering 1000% over its initial funding goal in 2024 and has been in development ever since. Publisher Mega Cat Studios has sent some updates on the progress of the game and announced a brand new video trailer that showcases ZPF’s lore. The new video has been narrated by Quibley and gives lots of details about ZPF’s story, characters and realms players will get to discover.
The other news was a confirmation that the pre-orders have been delayed, although the actual game development is almost complete. The delays have come about due to supplier issues. The game is now expected to ship in May 2025, so the delay is minimal, considering the game was slated for Q1 2025 release anyway. The full statement is below. You can still pre-order the game via the Mega Cat Studios website.
“As we continue making progress on ZPF, we wanted to give you an update on the release schedule. Development is essentially complete, and the team is steaming along to put the finishing touches on the game, such as adding in the backer names from our Knight of Legend tiers. Due to some unexpected vendor delays from the holiday season, we’ve had to make the tough decision to shift the fulfilment date to May.”
“We know this is a bit later than expected and that delays for any reason are frustrating, and we truly appreciate your understanding as we work through these final details to make the ZPF campaign fulfilment the very best it can be. That said, if the materials we’re waiting on arrive sooner, we’ll absolutely make sure to get them into your hands as quickly as possible. We’ll be taking advantage of this extra time by focusing on further playtesting and QA so we can catch any sneaky bugs we might’ve missed, and guarantee a smoother and more enjoyable experience for everyone.”
“Thanks again for your support and patience—it means the world to us as we put the finishing touches on the game, which promises to be an unforgettable experience for your Genesis and Mega Drive.”
