Gimmick! 2 Leaps onto PlayStation & Xbox, and Gets Physical on Switch

We previously reported on the release on Gimmick! 2 on Nintendo Switch and Steam, noting that PlayStation and Xbox releases would follow “soon after”, and now we know how soon, as it has now been confirmed that Gimmick! 2 will be leaping onto Xbox One & Series X|S and PlayStation 4 & 5 on January 30, 2025.

 

The original Gimmick! was released in Japan in 1992 for the Famicom, with a NES release following in the West a year later.

And now, over 30 years later, this sequel has been developed by Bitwave Games, continuing the adventures of the adorable Yokai Yumetaro, returning after a short break of just over three decades. Featuring candy-soaked landscapes and an all-new spirited soundtrack by celebrated composer David Wise (Donkey Kong Country series, Battletoads, Diddy Kong Racing, Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts), Gimmick! 2 promises to deliver an unmissable adventure for fans old and new alike.

In addition to coming to PlayStation and Xbox consoles digitally, Limited Run Games will also be releasing physical editions of Gimmick! 2 in both a Collector’s Edition and a Standard Edition for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5.


The Gimmick! 2 Collector’s Edition will include a Collector’s Edition box, a copy of the game with for PS5 or Nintendo Switch, with a booklet, a Yumetaro statue, a Ohagi squishie, an artbook, stickers, and the game’s soundtrack. Pre-orders for the Gimmick! 2 physical Collector’s Edition and Standard Edition open on December 17.While PC gamers aren’t getting a physical edition of the game, they are getting the chance to try the game for free with a free demo of Gimmick! 2 that was made available on Steam from today.
