Another week, another Arcade Archives release! We’ve previously covered several of Hamster Corporation’s Arcade Archives releases here on Retro News, including last week’s release of Fantastic Night Dreams: Cotton and the forthcoming Super Dimension Fortress Macross, which is due for release on December 26. This week’s release is City Bomber, which is a 1987 arcade title by Konami, and which was developed for Konami’s GX400 arcade system.
As usual, this week’s Arcade Archives release is available on the PS Store for PlayStation 4, and on the Nintendo eshop for Nintendo Switch.
City Bomber is a 2D top-down scrolling game, which has been described by Hamster Corporation as a “car action game”. The game is one of the more obscure titles to be dug up by Hamster’s Arcade Archives series and has seemingly never previously been ported home formats. Hamster Corporation further describe the game as follows: “Take control of Cat Burglar 306 after stealing the haul from a corrupt casino and try to escape from the gang that’s after you. You control a unique car in this title. Use its high jumps to clear difficult terrain, radial saws to attack enemies in front of you, and a variety of other gadgets to make your way through!”
