Super Excidium Event is a new SNES title that has come about through a collaboration between retro publisher Mega Cat Studios, Retro Gaming Network Discord, Video Game Sage and the r/Retrogaming Reddit group. The game is available now to purchase with all profits going to Child’s Play, a charity that “donates therapeutic games and technology to pediatric hospitals to improve patients’ lives through the power of play”. Purchases can be made directly through the Mega Cat Studios website now.

The game itself is a 16-bit shooter that pays homage to the glory days of space blasters and arcade gaming. It features a four-way weapon system that players will need to master to take down the oncoming waves of alien attackers. Super Excidium Event also has epic boss fights and a true retro-styled soundtrack as well as all the gameplay tropes gamers would expect from this kind of game.

In a press statement, Mega Cat Studios said. “Not only does Super Excidium Event allow players to beat back waves of invading enemies, but most importantly, it also helps countless kids keep boredom at bay through Mega Cat Studios and r/Retrogaming’s partnership with the Child’s Play charity.”
