Retro shooter Super XYX blasting onto consoles

Super XYX

Exciting news for retro shooter fans as Super XYX gets ready to release to consoles on 23rd October 2024. The high-octane pixel shooter was released on Steam in 2020 and is now set to blast onto Switch, PlayStation and Xbox. The game is being published by retro specialists EastAsiaSoft and developed by Team Grybanser Fox. It will cost a budget-blasting $9.99. The game is a traditional vertical shmup and pays homage to the 16-bit shooters from the 90s.

It wouldn’t be a classic shmup without an accompanying story either. The year is 3999, humanity has long colonised itself across the galaxy. Devouring new worlds for their resources, enjoying the interstellar life of luxury, and more or less friendly interactions with other alien races. That was until an ancient threat awakened from its slumber. The Black Serpent, the great destroyer of worlds. He’s back and he’s about to make the Milky Way, his greatest feast yet. Now, a bunch of heroes must save mankind by fighting back against the monster.

Super XYX has six levels of actions, each ending with a large boss fight and there are also multiple ships to control each with different weapon setups and abilities. The game uses a unique combo system to rack up high scores with bonus medals to collect from blasting waves of oncoming enemies.
