Many 90s gamers will have fond memories of hearing “revenge” and “incoming” from squeaky-mouthed worms. The Amiga classic is celebrating its 30th Anniversary and the celebrations started with the release of Worms Armageddon: Anniversary Edition from Eclipse Games recently. To continue the celebrations, Worms creator Andy Davidson has announced that Worms Directors Cut is getting a huge update. The original Worms Directors Cut was the final version of the original game and one of the last Amiga releases.
The new version will be called Directors Cut 1.5 and will feature brand new levels designed by fans of the game with anybody able to send in their own designs. Andy Davidson is working with several Amiga demoscene groups to get the project going and plans to release the new version for free at GERP 2025, a demoscene event hosted in Sweden.
The news of the updated Worms Directors Cut follows from social media posts from Andy Davidson explaining he had the Amiga he developed the game on recently restored. The posts also confirmed the game data had been finally backed up so could be preserved. Anyone who wishes to get involved in designing a level for the update can email the organiser Datastorm Party.
