Longdue: A New Studio by Former Disco Elysium Developers Working on a Psychogeographic RPG

A new independent studio named Longdue has been established by former developers of Disco Elysium to create a “spiritual successor” to the acclaimed role-playing game. This development comes after the cancellation of the actual sequel to Disco Elysium, allowing Longdue to pursue their project as a continuation of its legacy.

Longdue‘s team includes several individuals who worked on the original Disco Elysium and its canceled sequel, along with talent from other prominent studios like Bungie and Rockstar. However, notable figures such as Robert Kurvitz and Aleksander Rostov, who were key creatives in the original game, are not involved in this new project.

The upcoming game is described as a “psychogeographic RPG,” introducing a new mechanic where player decisions affect both the world and the characters within it. This concept emphasizes the interplay between a character’s psyche and their environment, creating an evolving narrative landscape influenced by internal and external factors. The game aims to explore themes similar to those in Disco Elysium, such as psychological depth, intelligent storytelling, and complex world-building, while also introducing innovative ideas.

Longdue is committed to crafting a narrative-first RPG that draws inspiration from classic games like Ultima, Wizardry, Fallout, and Planescape: Torment, in addition to Disco Elysium. The studio aims to establish itself as a leader in narrative-driven RPGs by pushing boundaries and delivering emotionally and intellectually resonant experiences.
