The Legend of Santa: A Holiday Twist on Super Mario Bros. 3

A new 2D platformer called “The Legend of Santa” is generating buzz for its striking similarities to the classic Nintendo game Super Mario Bros. 3, albeit with a Christmas-themed twist. Set to launch on the Nintendo Switch eShop on October 28, 2024, this game appears to be a festive reimagining of the beloved Mario title.

Gameplay and Features

The Legend of Santa borrows heavily from Super Mario Bros. 3’s mechanics:

Players control Santa through Christmas-themed levels
Gameplay involves jumping on enemies and punching blocks
A coal-shooting power-up is available, reminiscent of Mario’s fire flower

Despite its obvious inspiration, early Steam reviews suggest that the game is actually quite enjoyable.

The Legend of Santa, set to release on the Nintendo Switch eShop on October 28, 2024, draws clear inspiration from Super Mario Bros. 3 and references The Legend of Zelda in its title.
