Nintendo has announced that two classic F-Zero titles, F-Zero: GP Legend and F-Zero Climax, will be added to the Nintendo Switch Online‘s Game Boy Advance library on October 11, 2024. These additions are part of the service’s Expansion Pack tier, which offers subscribers access to a broader range of retro games.
F-Zero: GP Legend
- Release History: Originally launched in Japan on November 28, 2003, and later in Europe and North America in 2004.
- Gameplay Features: The game offers multiple modes including Grand Prix and Story mode. Players can race plasma-powered machines across various tracks, competing against elite racers from across the galaxy. The game features over 30 playable characters, each with unique vehicles and abilities.
- Modes: Includes Time Attack, where players race against a ghost racer to set the best time, and Zero Test, which challenges players to complete specific track sections within a time limit. Multiplayer racing is available via Link Cable for up to four players.
F-Zero Climax
- Release History: Released exclusively in Japan on October 21, 2004, making its debut on the Nintendo Switch Online service the first time it’s officially available in the West.
- Gameplay Features: Known for its high-speed racing and challenging gameplay, F-Zero Climax includes modes like Grand Prix, Time Attack, and Survival. It also features an Edit mode that allows players to create and save up to 30 custom courses.
- Unique Aspects: The game is noted for its intense racing action against 23 other hover cars and its ability to test players’ skills with various special rule sets.
