Namco’s classic Japan-exclusive shoot ’em up Blast Off is set to be released on the Nintendo Switch eShop and PlayStation 4 on September 26, 2024. Originally launched in arcades in 1989, Blast Off is a sequel to the 1981 game Bosconian. This marks the first time Blast Off will be available on home consoles, as it was never previously ported to any console or computer systems.

The game represents a significant shift from its predecessor by adopting a vertical scrolling format, akin to other Namco titles like Xevious and Dragon Spirit. Players engage in battles against alien threats using four different colored lasers, each with unique firing patterns. This release will first be available in Japan, with plans to expand to selected Western storefronts later.
