The series is being produced by Netflix, Korean animation company Studio Mir, and creator Adi Shankar, known for his work on Castlevania and Captain Laserhawk. It will consist of eight episodes in its first season, with Alex Larsen, who worked on Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, writing the series. The story follows Dante, an orphaned demon-hunter-for-hire, as he battles against sinister forces attempting to open a portal between the human and demon realms.
The teaser trailer showcases the series’ stylish animation and action-packed scenes, featuring Dante engaging in intense combat with both humans and demons. It also offers glimpses of familiar characters and elements from the video games, including Dante’s iconic weapons and acrobatic fighting style.
Adi Shankar has expressed high ambitions for the project, stating, “Our goal wasn’t just to pump out another animated show. My goal is to make one of the best shows on the Netflix platform. Period.” With the involvement of Studio Mir, known for their work on acclaimed animated series like The Legend of Korra, expectations are high for the visual quality of the adaptation.
While fans will have to wait until April 2025 to see the full series, the teaser trailer has generated excitement and anticipation for this new take on the beloved Devil May Cry franchise.
