Forge of the Fae: Kickstarter Launch & Official Trailer

Datadyne has released the official trailer for their upcoming turn-based RPG Forge of the Fae, showcasing the game’s Celtic folklore-inspired world and gameplay. The trailer highlights the game’s pixel art style, reminiscent of classic JRPGs, while introducing players to the protagonist Fiora and the mysterious Animas she’ll encounter.

Forge of the Fae features an 8-bit action-platformer style with players navigating a ship, solving puzzles, and battling entities known as Animas. These creatures are based on monsters and spirits from various folklores, including La Sayona from Venezuela, Ojáncanu from Spain, and Gashadokuro from Japan. The game’s combat system utilizes a unique Crystal System for channeling and casting magic during battles.

The story follows Fiora, an inventor on a quest to uncover the truth behind a series of mysterious disappearances. Players will explore a world inspired by Celtic mythology, making choices that impact the story’s outcome. The game promises a diverse cast of characters, each with their own unique playstyle.

Forge of the Fae is planned for release on PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, and PC via Steam in 2026. To support the game’s development, Datadyne will be launching a Kickstarter campaign in late September 2024. The campaign will offer various tiers for backers, including digital and physical editions of the game for different platforms.

The developers aim to create an immersive experience that combines retro charm with modern gameplay mechanics, appealing to fans of classic JRPGs and those looking for a fresh take on the genre. With its blend of Celtic folklore, strategic combat, and impactful player choices, Forge of the Fae is shaping up to be an intriguing addition to the turn-based RPG landscape.
