Atari has announced the revival of the iconic racing game Fatal Run with a new title, Fatal Run 2089, set to launch in 2025 for multiple platforms, including the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. This new installment is a modern reimagining of the original Fatal Run game, which was released in 1990 for the Atari 2600 and 7800 consoles.
Fatal Run 2089 is developed by MNSTR Studio and utilizes Unreal Engine 5 to deliver high-fidelity action and visuals. The game is set in a post-apocalyptic world where players must transport advanced clean energy devices to save humanity from the aftermath of a comet collision that has left Earth with deadly radiation. Players will race through 20 levels across four distinct global regions, facing off against other road-raging enemies and formidable bosses while managing the decay of their energy devices.
The game features a variety of vehicles, each with unique performance traits, and allows players to collect currency during races to enhance and customize their vehicles. The gameplay promises intense and unpredictable runs with branching paths, hidden shortcuts, and explosive set pieces. Fatal Run 2089 aims to capture the essence of the original while introducing modern gameplay elements to appeal to both new and returning players.
