In Streets of Rage, the two-player mode allows one player to choose to join Dr. X, requiring them to defeat the other player for the “bad” ending, reminiscent of the rivalry in Double Dragon. This feature is exclusive to multiplayer, as solo players face Dr. X and can only achieve the “good” ending. However, modder BillyTimeGames has developed a patch that enables solo players to also access the “bad” ending. By accepting Dr. X’s offer in Stage 8 and defeating him, players can become the new boss, experiencing an alternate narrative outcome.

I always thought it was lame that the bad ending in SOR1 was locked exclusively to two player mode.
