Hamster has revealed that Taito’s classic ’90s football game, Hat Trick Hero, will be coming to PS4 and Nintendo Switch in Japan on July 18th. Originally released in 1992, this game is a modified version of Taito’s Football Champ arcade title from 1990, replacing the Spanish and French teams with Japan and the USA. With a total of 8 teams available, players aim to win each match to become the ultimate football champions in the world.

This football game stands out with its unique features for its era. It includes a lively announcer providing energetic commentary, a hard-hitting tackling system allowing players to be more aggressive, and a “star player mechanic” where players can unleash special moves with a chosen player. One notable move is a comical super shot that can launch the opponent’s goalkeeper into the stands. Stay tuned for updates on the English trailer from Hamster, but in the meantime, gameplay footage is available to get a taste of what to expect.
