The director of The Legend of Heroes: Trails Through Daybreak has confirmed that the JRPG saga is nearing completion, with the main story being about 80-90% complete. Although there may be future games or arcs in the series, it is not expected to continue for another 20 years or reach a 30th or 40th-anniversary milestone. However, there is a possibility of a fifth Trails arc or a new overarching storyline in the future.

While there are no specific plans for a direct successor to the Trails series, the team is focused on finishing up Trails. Additionally, there are actively being worked on new IPs. The latest entry in the series, The Legend of Heroes: Trails Through Daybreak, has launched, with Trails Through Daybreak 2 planned for a western release in early 2025.
