The Dragon Quest 3 remake was announced in 2021 with a trailer showcasing the game in Octopath Traveler’s HD-2D art style. Square Enix has provided an update on the project, hinting at potential remakes for other games in the 36-year-old Dragon Quest series.
A recent clip released on Dragon Quest Day revealed the game would be available on Nintendo Switch, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, as part of Square Enix‘s new multiplatform strategy. Speculation is brewing about further HD-2D remakes, with a tease mentioning the “legend of Erdrick,” which spans the first three games in the series. While Dragon Quest 3 is the only confirmed HD-2D game in production, the lack of a direct mention leaves room for the possibility of additional projects in the future.
