Sony Interactive Entertainment‘s PlayStation London Studio, known for its work on The Getaway series and the Singstar franchise, has officially shut down.
The studio, founded in 2002 and located in Soho, London, was also behind games for PlayStation’s EyeToy camera, Wonderbook, and PlayStation VR titles like VR Worlds and Blood & Truth. Most recently, it was working on an online co-op combat game set in a fantasy London.
The closure of the studio was announced in February as part of Sony‘s plan to lay off 900 employees globally. The studio bid farewell to its staff and supporters, expressing gratitude for the talent and contributions made over the past two decades.
For over twenty years London Studio has been home to some exceptionally talented and wonderful people in the games industry. As we close the doors, and all go forward to new adventures, we wanted to say a heartfelt thank you, to all our past and present, players and colleagues… pic.twitter.com/gXe4MnU6SI
